Once upon a time, Port Elizabethans used to beg for a place where food was good and little diners were welcome. But now they no longer have to. Buzz Factory, with its industrial-style decor and “buzzing factory” ambience, immediately puts parents at ease when their small charges race off to the large Fun Kidzz Factory at the back of the restaurant.
And while the kids are bouncing off the walls in the safely enclosed play area complete with jumping castle, television area with couches, colouring-in station and old-style pinball machines, parents can happily peruse the extensive menu.
The kids are alright
Situated centrally at Sunridge Village Shopping Centre, the Kidzz Menu includes a selection fit for any prince or princess. Penne and cheese, calamari, ribs, burgers and chicken strips are but a few of the kid-friendly options on the menu. With a cute cucumber and tomato skewer on the side, mom will be relieved to know that the veggies are taken care of.
Having ordered the kiddies’ meals, our friendly waitron offered to bring the milkshakes in takeaway cups – showing any harassed parent that the Buzz Factory speaks their language!
Mom and dad too…
Never fear, though, adults are taken care too. My husband chose the Village Idiot: a 200g fillet topped with camembert and cranberry sauce, while I went for the in house speciality: slow oven-baked beef short rib served on a bed of creamy mashed potatoes and old-school green beans. Both were done to perfection. At the end of the meal, nursing full bellies and tired happy kids, we headed home.
Head-on back
Be sure to check out the Buzz Factory Facebook page for weekly specials including the Monday two-for-one burgers and Thursday’s two curries for the price of one. And Saturdays just got a whole lot better as kids eat free with any adult meal.
Take some time off; you deserve it.
