If you’re in the mood for a few drinks with friends, here are our suggestions for the best places to go in the Capital. Cheers!
Rafters
A family restaurant, pub and theatre in Pretoria East, Rafters has something for everyone and are known for their live entertainment. They were voted the winner of the Best Pubs in Pretoria ‘Of Local’ awards in 2016. Pretty much all you need to know is summed up in their 4 questions: Is jy honger? Is jy dors? Wil jy kuier? Wil jy dans?
Hogshead
Specialising in craft beer on tap and authentic smokehouse dining, Hoghshead also has excellent cocktails and serves a range of great South African classic meals. It’s the original craft beer pub in Gauteng and they offer 12 local craft beers on tap at any time – all from local breweries. The formula is so popular that you can now find them in Hazelwood and Rooihuiskraal, Centurion.
Crawdaddy’s
The ‘good food and pub company’ celebrates its 20 year anniversary this year, so you can be sure they know exactly how to entertain their customers. More than just a pub, you’re guaranteed great food to go with your drinks – and you can choose from their branches in Brooklyn, Menlyn, Centurion, Silverlakes, Tzaneen and Rustenburg.
Huttens Pub
Waverley’s best bar and best prices has a huge range of drinks on offer, from beer to brandy, shooters and more, including daily specials and food to soak up all the drinks! They also offer karaoke, which is always a good idea…
Whisk Wine Bar
If you’re looking for Irene’s hippest bar, then Whisk Wine Bar is where you want to be. They promise: “Awesome Aperitifs, Banging Burgers, Creative Cocktails, Devious Design, Elegant Encounters, Finite Friends, Gorgeous Glares, Humble Humor, Infinite Inceptions.” A tall order for a bar, although this one does have everything from craft beer to shots and cocktails for you to choose from.
