The established suburb of Erasmia peacefully nestles on the scenic outer edge of Pretoria’s western peripheries close to the beautiful Hennops River Valley. The streets of this suburb are usually quiet. There are no towering buildings – only an abundant splendour of tall palm trees.

Erasmia offers a quality lifestyle and a slow pace, and it unobtrusively meets the daily needs of modern living. Its proximity to main arteries and highways like the R55, N14, N1 and R51, makes daily commuting to and from other parts of Pretoria, Midrand, Hartbeespoort Dam, Krugersdorp and Sandton a pleasure, while both Wonderboom Airport and Lanseria International Airport are just about 35km away.

Being within a few minutes’ drive from Centurion central, residents have easy access to top hospitals, comprehensive shopping facilities, and any other service imaginable. The neighbourhood is blessed with its own schools and many churches, mosques and an active community working together towards creating a safe and enjoyable environment to live in.

Property

The property offering in Erasmia primarily comprises free-standing family homes on very large stands. These homes generally vary in size from older, comfortably sized three-bedroom houses to colossal homes with five to eight bedrooms and multiple bathrooms suited for extended families, guesthouses and the likes.

Modern homes and townhouses can also be found in a few small complexes and the designer Ansaar Estate.

Erasmia almost literally has no high-rise buildings and there’s little building activity going on. However, vacant land is available and several farms and plots in the surrounding area are also on the market.

Property prices are reasonable taking into account the size of stands and structures and roughly range from about R1,4m to R5m+ with the largest lot falling in the R2m to R3m price class.

Schools

Erasmia is a family-oriented neighbourhood. Even though the suburb is located somewhat away from the main hustle and bustle of Centurion, schoolgoing children have several options of schools to attend. One of them is the very well-established public primary school Erasmia Primary. Other public primary schools in neighbouring suburbs are Valhalla Primary School, originally established in 1965, and Laerskool Swartkop, an Afrikaans-medium school.

Amity International School Erasmia campus is situated in a quiet corner in the suburb and offers quality independent education to learners from preprimary to senior secondary phase, while Al Ghazali College is an independent Islamic school catering to learners from Grade R to Grade 12.

More options are Tshwane Muslim School and others in the bordering suburb of Laudium while residents have easy access to all other Centurion schools.

Explore

Nestling on the rural western outskirts of the city with beautiful pastoral views over the rolling hills and grasslands, the area is home to many secluded health and wellness hydro and day spas. These offer the ideal breakaway for weary city dwellers.

Kai Thai Spa Erasmia is conveniently located in the heart of the suburb. Both Bakwena Spa, located at Velmoré Hotel Estate just outside Erasmia on the banks of the Hennops River, and Bayete Estate & Spa, located just a few kilometers further on the M26 offer an attractive range of treatments and packages in a charming serene environment. The highly regarded Hoogland Health Hydro, situated 10km from Erasmia, is renowned for its extensive variety of short- and long-term health and wellness retreats. Mangwanani River Valley, Mangwanani Mbali and Sense Day Spa are also located just a stone’s throw away from the neighbourhood.

Outdoor recreational activities in this scenic piece of countryside include mountain biking, hiking and 4×4 and off-road trails at Hennops MTB on the R511 to Hartbeespoort Dam. The venue also has a picnic spot and swimming and braai facilities.

Speed-loving residents have ample opportunities to participate in exciting motoring and biking events and activities at the close by Zwartkops Raceway, while on lazy days residents can indulge in a book borrowed from Erasmia Library or a watch a movie at Mall@Reds.
