The Maserati Levante is a force of nature that exudes confidence-inspiring abilities through rough terrain. In short, it is a high-end luxury SUV with a powerful five door hatch and a Maranello-built V6 petrol engine with an innovative new power steering system which offers better support for the different driving modes.

Available in two trims for 2018, the Levante GranLusso more focused on luxury and signified by a metallic-finish, front skid plates and roof rails, and GranSport which is more about engaging dynamics. Each offers advanced driver assistance features such as Highway Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Surround View Camera and Traffic Sign Recognition.

The exhaust system, controlled by pneumatic valves, maintain the rich aural signature of the brand. The engines in the Levante offer efficient responsiveness and effortless long-distance refinement enabled through the adoption of a turbocharger design – one for each cylinder bank – plus the latest valve control and high pressure direct injection technology. Twin turbocharging was pioneered by Maserati with the Biturbo of 1981. Its lightweight exhaust system with bypass valves ensures that it’s delivered to maximum effect.

The Levante can reach 100 km/h from a standing start in an unbelievable 5.2 seconds. As for economy and emissions, the figures speak volumes. Combined fuel consumption is 7.2 litres per 100km and CO2 emissions are just 189 g/km. The ZF automatic gearbox delivers comfort, fast gear shifting, better fuel consumption and increased refinement.

The exterior highlights include an aggressively sculpted front grille with chromed bars and arching front wings that bear the iconic triple air vents. Such details with the frameless door windows, the roof spoiler and quad tailpipes, make an emphatic statement about the unique, all-round strength of this vehicle.

The interior exudes elegant Italian style with meticulously crafted finishes and race-bred energy that inspires long-distance, sophisticated travel and the all-round space on board creates a feeling of freedom. Interior highlights include seats and dashboard side panels in hand stitched leather and other surfaces either in genuine wood or Black Piano trim.

The infotainment system comes complete with an aluminium rotary controller. There is an abundance of smart storage, together with the flexibility of 60/40-folding rear seats and a 580-litre luggage compartment which is accessible through an optional kick sensor allowing to open the tailgate by simply moving your foot beneath the rear bumper.

Additional features include the dual zone or optional four-zone climate control and an air quality monitor. Last but not least is the safety aspect which encompasses a tyre-pressure monitoring system, six airbags, adaptive front lighting system, led lights and the Maserati stability program.
