Flume specialises in making businesses stand out in the digital space, driving growth and cutting out the noise. Co-founder and managing director Jacques Du Bruyn tells us more about the business, based in Bryanston.
How did your business start?
I worked for many years in digital marketing and my business partner, Ruan Oosthuizen, worked at the JSE doing mergers and acquisitions. A lot changes in our industries, and these changes need to be aligned with clients’ needs. We both saw a gap in the market to provide innovative solutions to digital marketing and wanted to further enhance our skills and expertise, so we took a risk and started Flume. Today, we have 27 employees and more than 20 clients.
Why did you choose this area to set up shop?
We moved from 44 Stanley to Bryanston because it’s closer to Sandton, Africa’s business hub. Our clients and peers are in the area, so it made sense to be located here.
How did you find your premises?
We drove past and saw that the premises were available for letting, so we made contact.
Why are the premises ideally suited to your business?
We have the flexibility to increase our space as we grow, it has all the facilities we need, the location is easily accessible off William Nicol Drive and our logo is visible to motorists driving through to Fourways and Sandton.
Who are your neighbours?
Our neighbours are 5th Avenue Properties, Sedgeley Developments and Cube Gallery.
What are the shop rental/sales prices like in this area?
Pricey because of the location but more affordable than Sandton.
How many people visit your business each day?
Between one and five, depending on client meetings.
Do you have any expansion plans?
We plan to double our operations in the next two years.

Yes, we’re a digital marketing agency, so we have an active website and social media pages: LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
