We are in the middle of all the Rugby World Cup action and with the quarter finals starting today and the semis and final not far off, what could be better than a beer (or Klippies and Coke) and a burger (or pizza, or fish and chips – or any munchie, for that matter) in terrific suburban surrounds?

PE Golf Club

The long-standing favourite watering hole (and 18 other holes) of the Port Elizabeth Golf Club in Westview Drive, Mill Park, has been a refuge for members for many a year. During this year’s World Cup it has opened its doors to non-members for the tournament games, and is offering altogether other kinds of ‘rounds’ and ‘courses’ where you can catch all the RWC action.

Ronel van Eyk recently took over the catering and bar operations here, and has already set the bar high with the quality and value of meals on offer.

“It all started at the beginning of the World Cup. We had an awesome turnout for that opening ceremony on Friday and on the following day for the first Bok game [against Japan] with live music, but obviously spirits were all a little dampened after that one!” quips Van Eyk.

What’s on the menu?

Beef or chicken burgers and chips, well-topped pizzas and fish and chips are just some of the excellent pub-fare listings on offer, and during every World Cup session there will be different special munchie meals available. There are also plenty of options to choose from on the club’s à la carte menu, plus more family-orientated meals and entertainment.

There are just a few weeks left of World Cup excitement, so don’t miss a satisfying and easy-on-the-pocket round at this club. Booking for the lunch specials is essential.
