Janes Struweg and Cindy Gomes-De Klerk, co-owners of Sourcery Supply Co, a retail concept store specialising in bespoke home interior products and gifts, opened their store at The Club shopping centre in Hazelwood in July this year.
How did your business start?
Cindy and I wanted an outlet for our creative abilities and decided that a retail space with beautiful items we both made or sourced would be the best way to bring this vision to life. It had the benefit of enabling us to share our amazing finds with friends, family and the public in a curated space. The store includes products which Cindy and I make, products by local crafts people, carpenters and painters, as well as imported products hand-picked by Cindy and myself.
Why did you choose this area to set up shop?
We carefully consider where we open our shops and The Club shopping centre is perfect as it is situated in Hazelwood near to Brooklyn and Waterkloof, which are quite creative areas, and are near many new restaurants. Hazelwood has our target market of creative upmarket people with more time on their hands to browse and enjoy original and innovative products.
How did you find your premises?
A client of ours attended our opening function at the Sourcery Supply Co offices in Lynnwood Ridge and offered us a space in The Club shopping centre as they liked the look and feel of the store.
Why are the premises ideally suited to your business?
The space we occupy is in a great location with good accessibility and visibility and the tenant mix at the centre allows us to also complement the offering. The property has a large shop front, is light and bright with a modern clean feel and has wooden elements ideal for showcasing our products.
Who are your neighbours?
We are next to a restaurant and a clothing boutique store.
What are the shop rental/sales prices like in this area?
The rental price is between R12,000 and R15,000/month.
What is your shop footprint?
There is an average of 30 people visiting the store per day.
Do you have any expansion plans?
No, not for The Club at this stage.

What’s your most popular item/service?
Our fashionable scarves and unique terrariums are a hit.
