The suburb of Amberfield in Centurion, Pretoria is particularly appealing to city dwellers desiring to streamline their busy lifestyles and make quality use of their down time, not having to agonise too much about traffic volumes, property maintenance and security issues. Developers have planned well for the requirements of the contemporary lock-up-and-go individual, couple or family.

Strategically placed in the centre of Centurion West, Amberfield offers one of the best locations close to major roads and freeways and is situated well within quick access to top-class amenities like private schools and flagship hospitals, Gautrain routes and the pulsating business heart of Centurion.

To top it all, the real-estate offering includes an extensive range of property types and costs so that even entry-level buyers can afford this desired lifestyle in a pleasant environment.

Property

Being a young, modern-day residential area of which parts are still being expanded and developed, the focus in Amberfield is on convenient, lockup-and-go, feel-safe-to-do-so city living in a stylish and reasonably affordable environment.

The area boasts a mixture of freehold and sectional title property types of all shapes, sizes and prices, including apartments, townhouses, cluster- and freestanding homes, as well as vacant stands, in several residential estates. These include Amberfield Crest Estate, Amberfield Glen, Amberfield Heights, Amberfield Manor, Amberfield Ridge, Amberfield Valley Estate and the latest addition called Amberfield City, which it is said will have 4,000 units when completed.

Although these different estates are designed to meet the varying needs of homeowners and tenants in different stages of their lives, the area is particularly in demand by economically active middle-income under 50s, with less than 10% of stable property owners falling in the 65+ category.

Entry-level properties in Amberfield may set you back with as little as between R800,000 and R1,5m, while more spacious homes and townhouses can go up to roughly between R3m and R4m.

Schools

Amberfield is home to both young and established families with children of all ages. Being surrounded with many reputable, older neighbourhoods, parents are left with an extensive choice of daycare facilities for babies and toddlers in and around the area.

There are literally dozens of these in bordering suburbs like Rooihuiskraal, Wierda Park and Heuweloord, while many of the primary schools in these areas also offer preprimary education as well as aftercare facilities.

The community of Amberfield welcomed the establishment of the spanking new Amberfield College which opened its doors in January this year. This independent school offers tuition to learners from Grade R to Grade 12 and is situated centrally in the suburb.

Curro Thatchfield is another independent school which accepts learners from Grade 1 to Grade 12. This school is situated a few kilometers from Amberfield in the suburb of Thatchfield in the neighbouring Rooihuiskraal North area.

Nearby public primary schools include Wierdapark Primary School, Uitsig Primary School and Laerskool Bakenkop, while Hoërskool Uitsig and Sutherland High School (among others) offer public secondary phase education of high standard.

Explore

Centurion has a wealth of recreational and entertainment facilities to balance a busy working life in the big city.

Sport clubs and fitness and wellness facilities in the area include an unusual number of beautiful golf courses, modern gymnasiums and health hydro-spas, while SuperSport Park cricket stadium and Zwartkops Raceway also form part of the many adrenaline-pumping offerings.

Nature loving-residents can participate in hiking, biking, angling, picnicking or just enjoy some leisurely family time in the open air at the nearby Rietvlei Dam Nature Reserve, the Irene Dairy Farm, as well Rooihuiskraal Historical Terrain & Animal Farm, among others. Amberfield is surrounded by top-class shopping malls and some good old retail therapy at either Mall@Reds, Centurion Mall or Forest Hill City, and Mall@55 is never disappointing. These centres also tick all the boxes in terms of variety in entertainment like movie theatres, restaurants, games arcades and even an ice rink and a wave pool at nearby Forest Hill City.

”The feature that stands out the most about our neighbourhood for me, is its central location to Gauteng’s major arteries and highways like the N1 and the N14, while at the same time the residential areas are quiet and away from the big city hurry-scurry” PETER LUDEKE, RESIDENT
