Vintage on Main is a self-catering venue that hosts baby and bridal showers, dedications, birthday parties and small weddings. It also has short and long-term accommodation options available. Owner Nadia Roos tells us more.

How did your business start?

I own another company called Vintage Rose Weddings and Events, where we rent out décor for weddings and provide other wedding-related services. While we were looking for better premises for that business, we came upon this property in Waterkloof and immediately saw an opportunity for a new business idea. Vintage on Main o¬fficially opened January last year.

Why did you choose this area to set up shop?

Waterkloof is located centrally and close to everything. We want clients and guests to have easy access.

How did you find your premises?

We contacted a local realty agency and looked at many places before deciding on this specific property.

Why are they ideally suited to your business?

The premises are large and has a lot of space, so it’s suitable for both businesses. The combination of businesses also works perfectly together. It works well as we can do many things there.

Who are your neighbours?

We mostly have residential owners as neighbours, but we also have the British Academy, a private school, across the street.

What are the shop rental/sales prices like in this area?

The area is quite pricey.

How many people visit your business each day?

Weekends are our busiest time. We then host anything from 12 to 60 guests per function. During the week we host smaller groups with guests ranging from two to 11.

Do you have any expansion plans?

Yes, always! We hope to make our accommodation a success and we’ll be working hard to earn some stars in the near future.

Do you operate online as well?

Yes, we do. We have our website as well as a Facebook page (@VintageonMainstreet).

What’s your most popular service?

It must be our baby and bridal showers.
