The Amdec Group’s new River Dale village is the second of nine villages they plan to build in Westbrook, Port Elizabeth’s largest lifestyle estate. The Ridge was the first and is sold out already.
Building on the R360m River Dale started in mid-2019 and homes are now ready for viewing.
Comprising 221 new free-standing designer homes, this new development is built around a large communal village green with playgrounds, pathways, picnic areas and public pause areas.
During Phase 1, 44 homes will be released comprising single storey three-bedroom, two-bathroom units priced from R1,3m, and double storey four-bedroom, two-bathroom units with a study, from R1,5m.
Attention to detail
Homes in River Dale are designed with a focus on spacious living with open-plan dining and kitchen areas, double-volume living spaces and an indoor/outdoor flow. Meticulous attention to detail is evident throughout and upmarket fixtures and finishes include engineered stone kitchen countertops and a choice of Bosch stainless steel or Defy black kitchen appliances.
All units are fitted with fibre to the home, and each has a garden, terraced patio, and built-in braai.
“With the design of River Dale, we wanted to combine 21st century convenience with modern yet timeless styling, enhanced by superior craftsmanship,” says Clifford Oosthuizen, managing director, Westbrook Residential Developments. “And since we care about sustainable development, every home includes two solar-powered geysers and has energy-saving LED lighting throughout.”
Best of both worlds
Westbrook is set on 128ha of lush parkland, habitat to a variety of bird species and indigenous plant life. It occupies a prime location on Port Elizabeth’s western edge, conveniently close to Bay West Mall, with access to the N2, beachfront, and the CBD.
Once completed, Westbrook’s nine residential estates will be serviced by a bustling town centre offering retail, commercial, leisure and entertainment facilities.
With its blend of town and country living, Westbrook’s focus is to provide families with security, affordable designer homes, and expansive parklands with footpaths, running and cycling tracks, for an active, healthy community lifestyle.
A village raises a child
“Our vision of a walkable environment with homes and communal areas that encourage social interaction and convenience has come to fruition,” says Oosthuizen. “The Ridge is already home to a happy and thriving community, where residents enjoy the freedom to live life to the full. We anticipate the same success for River Dale.”
Westbrook caters to all generations. There’s a Curro independent school on the estate, which currently accommodates learners from Grade R to Grade 9 with higher grades phased in annually. The nursery school, Curro Castle Westbrook, offers an integrated play-based programme for children from three months to five years old. An Evergreen Lifestyle retirement village is also planned for Westbrook, so grandparents can enjoy a carefree lifestyle while living in close proximity to their children and grandchildren.
A secure investment
Westbrook is designed with maximum security in mind. The safety of residents is ensured via electrified perimeter fencing, guarded gatehouses, access control, CCTV and 24-hour foot, bike and vehicular patrols. All homes are fitted with alarms and security systems. Oosthuizen believes that Westbrook offers an unrivalled property asset and an excellent investment in Port Elizabeth’s largest lifestyle estate.
Investor confidence is strengthened by Westbrook being built, owned and operated by the Amdec Group that has a 31-year track record of developing large-scale projects, both locally and abroad.
The Group’s portfolio includes Melrose Arch mixed-use precinct in Joburg, Harbour Arch and The Yacht Club in Cape Town, the multi-award-winning Val de Vie and Pearl Valley lifestyle estates in the Cape Winelands, Sitari Country Estate outside Somerset West, and Evergreen Lifestyle, a leading South African retirement brand.
