Andani Netshiungani, owner of Zipper Creations, designs and manufactures clothing for all age groups. The business also does graphics (company logos and branding) and designs fabric prints.
YN: How did your business start?
Andani: My business started when I first began to participate at local fashion shows. Some of my designs were being showcased on the ramp and, after this, people started placing orders.
YN: Why did you choose this area to set up shop?
Andani: I chose Arcadia to set up shop as this is where I live. It is more convenient to operate my business from home, as it allows me to work extra hours without being worried about finishing too late.
YN: How did you find your premises?
Andani: An agent assisted in finding the premises.
YN: Why are the premises ideally suited to your business?
Andani: My home is ideally suited to my business as it has a very modern feel to it and I literally live two blocks away from Metro, a material shop, which is very convenient.
YN: Who are your neighbours?
Andani: My neighbours are young professionals between the ages of 30 and 40.
YN: What are the shop rental/sales prices like in this area?
Andani: The rental prices are quite affordable.
YN: What is your shop footprint?
Andani: I often go out to do some marketing for my business. I try to reach a minimum of 20 people per week.
YN: Do you have any expansion plans?
Andani: Yes, I would like to move into a more spacious place. It would also be great if my business could be located somewhere where people would be more aware of it.
YN: Do you operate online as well?
Andani: Yes, I have a Facebook page, called Zipper Creations.
YN: What’s your most popular item/service?
Andani: Dresses are the most popular item.
