As budding designers (and impressive professionals!), it’s our favourite time of year again, when decor, furniture, lifestyle and design trends all come together under one roof to create the ultimate in-home inspiration for their visitors.
With Decorex SA and 100% Design South Africa set to kick off this coming Wednesday, 8 August, this year is set to be bigger and lovelier than ever before. Incredibly, 2018 will mark the 25th year that Decorex has taken place in Joburg, and the Reed Exhibitions team behind the scenes still manage to bring the latest in decor and design to the show year on year. With the 2018 theme being “Rhythm of Life”, this year Decorex aims to give visitors access to a variety of globally influenced designs and trends which have been localised to suit the African home, which means you can expect to see the perfect marriage of both international and local styles. With seven distinct areas all showcasing different aspects of design, you’re bound to find something to inspire you.
One of the undisputed highlights of Decorex is always the ever-evolving Designer Spotlight, and this year proudly South African designer Dorothy van’t Riet will be taking centre stage as she creates a unique and impressionable room setting. Make sure you make a stop-off at her space for innovative style and timeless design, and then be sure to visit the area curated by award-winning interior designer Stephen Falcke for travel-influenced inspiration.
Running alongside Decorex at the Gallagher Convention Centre will be the highly acclaimed 100% Design South Africa, which has been part of Decorex for five years now. The largest curated exhibition platform for high-end contemporary design in Africa, 100% Design South Africa is an exhibition that you’ll want to be sure not to miss if you’re looking to have design work done. With Feature Designer of the Year Andile Dyalvane, it’s the perfect platform to source proudly local and international furniture and product design, as well as lighting, interior design, and even materials for your next build.
