Every month wine lovers in Pretoria unite to enjoy delicious wine farm offerings. Monte de Dios makes sure to entice amateur sommeliers with various prestigious and artisanal wines. On 31 March at 6.30pm, Monte de Dios, in association with Bartinney Wine Estate, is hosting yet another six-course food and wine pairing, “Proe”toria.

 The venue

Monte de Dios, Spanish for “mountain of God”, is an exquisite Spanish equestrian villa located against the foothills of the Zwavelpoort area. With its open and spacious surroundings, you’ll feel like you are miles away from the bustling city. Monte de Dios is well known for its hospitality and successful events. The monthly food and wine pairings at Monte de Dios have been highly praised by participants, making this an event not to be missed.

The wine

Bartinney is situated on the picturesque slopes of Botmaskop alongside the Helshoogte Pass in the Stellenbosch area. It is with the same harmony they’ve found in nature that Michael and Rose Jordaan tackle the art of winemaking. The people at Bartinney are at the core of the business’s success, and sustainable agriculture methods are used. With the grape vines planted 550m above sea level on 45° Western Cape slopes, the Bartinney wines possess rich character.

The food

The six-course meal paired with Bartinney Wine Estate wines comprises wonderfully balanced flavours and textures. You can expect kingklip mousse served with marinated poached pears, a tasty Thai prawn curry accompanied with a fruity Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé, Torrigashi loin chops served with honey and soya noodles, and a perfectly prepared beef bourguignon, to mention a few.
