It’s that time of year again: book your Uber, pack your bank card, and prepare for an incredible night out with RMB WineX. The single largest gathering in South Africa for the country’s top wine producers and influencers, it’s a celebration of all things fine, dine, and wine, and continues to be an undeniable highlight on any oenophile’s calendar.
Launched in 2000, RMB WineX is attended each year by over 10,000 Joburgers, and for good reason – the festival prides itself on being the very best event for discerning wine lovers looking to sample new vintages, discover new wineries, and purchase new bottles to take home. With over 150 exhibitors and 800 wines on show, there’s bound to be something for everyone, and you’ll be happy to see old favourites there like Meerlust, Kanonkop, Backsberg, Jordan, Hamilton Russell, Morgenster, Nederburg, Spier, Tokara and Rustenberg. Or, if you’d rather try something completely fresh, you can keep an eye out for the newer producers on hand, like Marras, Miles Mossop, Mullineux, Paserene and The Fledge & Co. No matter what you’re looking for, you can guarantee that RMB WineX will have the red, white, or Rosé that your heart desires.
With many winemakers and cellar masters personally bringing their creations to RMB WineX, the festival offers a remarkable opportunity to meet and talk to the innovative minds behind your favourite vintages. Expect delicious tapas tastes provided by Mastrantonio and food stalls dotted around the room, so you can turn your evening at WineX into a meal worthy of any fancy restaurant. And when you fall in love with a bottle, the team from Norman Goodfellows will be right on hand with their Shop@Show facility to help you stock up and have your favourites delivered right to your door. Completed by a visual feast of Barrel Art and unexpected sculpture, it’s an experience like no other.
Taking place over three days at the Sandton Convention Centre once again, buying tickets to RMB WineX is a no-brainer for Joburg’s wine enthusiasts, and a great opportunity to have a wonderful time.
