Delicious, sustainable food and great vibes in the heart of Rosebank at Bolton Road Collection
If you haven’t already enjoyed a meal, a coffee, or a drink at Bolton Road Collection, you’ll want to rectify that soon. Since it first opened in November, this chic yet casual neighbourhood restaurant has already established itself as a gem in Rosebank’s crown of rejuvenation, and with the new menu having just launched, the team behind Bolton Road Collection continue to produce delicious food using the best ingredients. We sit with owner Bruce Beattie to chat about great meals, Rosebank, and the future for Bolton Road Collection.
How was Bolton Road Collection born?
My other restaurant, Social On Main in Bryanston, has been open for about three and a half years now. I have been wanting to open something in the Parks for a while now, and when I saw that the old Motomia scooter dealership was for sale, I knew the space was perfect. We’ve been lucky to keep a lot of the building’s original features, like the ceiling’s high arches and the original floor and walls.
Why Rosebank?
We’re passionate about regeneration, art, sustainability, and supporting local – and Rosebank speaks to all of these things.
Tell us about your new menu.
The Bolton Road Collection’s philosophy has always been to have a small menu that is refreshed seasonally, with our ingredients sourced from only the best suppliers and everything made in-house where possible. Our chef, Andrew Green, is one of the best in the country – he’s from the UK and has experience working with some of the best chefs in the world, including having trained under Gordon Ramsay. As we move into winter, we’ve created a more accessible lunchtime menu, which means we’ll be offering options like open sandwiches and smaller dishes that are perfect when paired with a glass of wine at lunchtime. Winter options will also include rich dishes like an incredible Moroccan lamb tagine, and a 1,5kg tomahawk sharing steak with unlimited sides, which is ideal for sharing. We’re also expanding to add more tapas plates – great for a quick bite with friends before you head off to First Thursdays on Keyes Avenue.
