You’re spoilt for choice at this popular Blouberg restaurant
Nothing says relaxation quite like a cold glass of Pinot Noir, some delicious tapas and the view of the ocean. That’s one of the reasons the Blouberg beachfront has always been a favourite spot of mine. Recently, my fiancé and I decided to give our usual sundowner spot a chance for our date night. And Catch 22 did not disappoint.
Usually, we would sit in the sun downstairs, order cocktails and nibble on snack baskets in a casual environment. This time, we opted for a more romantic evening out and decided to venture up the big, blue staircase to the top of the restaurant. Walking in, the ambiance is vibey, exciting and the waiters welcomed us with friendly faces. We chose to sit on the balcony and enjoy the cool, sea breeze.
Catch 22 is famous for its seafood variety, but what makes it a “catch 22”, is the fact that the traditional meat dishes are just as great. We started off with the delectable, melt-in-your-mouth, Seize the Bay sushi platter. Our drinks, a craft beer for my beloved and a glass of Pinot Noir for me, arrived almost as soon as we asked for them, and our starters arrived just as promptly. The sushi was incredible, fresh and tasty, leaving us in anticipation for our main meal.
I opted for a combo of grilled hake and prawns, while my fiancé ordered some calamari and beer-battered hake. After nibbling on both plates, thoroughly enjoying our food, we were satisfied and in a great mood having had one of our best date nights.
If you’re familiar with this cheerful spot, but haven’t yet tried it, now is the time to make that booking and get lost in your very own catch 22.
