Most Durbanites would be familiar with The Factory Cafe – a coffee roastery-cum-cafe that opened its doors on Magwaza Maphalala Street (Gale Street) in 2011. The venue was the first of its kind in Durban, cementing local coffee culture and bringing a new meaning to the term “coffee shop”. This was all thanks to its original venue, passion for the perfect brew (using Colombo coffee) and monthly cultural events.

The Factory Cafe and Colombo

Now the exciting news is that The Factory Cafe and Colombo have now joined forces to bring you a new coffee venue in Durban North.

The Factory Cafe

The merger and expansion came about in order to take the coffee experience to a new level while maintaining the same good vibe and atmosphere that Durbanites had grown to love at The Factory Cafe.

Colombo Coffee

The doors to the new venue only officially opened on the 25 April, but it’s already primed and ready for people to pop in or hang out. Prepare to be hypnotised by the aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans. Colombo Coffee offers a house blend that customers have grown to know and love, as well as a variety of seasonal single-origin coffees.

The cafe also offers snack options including cakes, pastries and sandwiches to complement the specialty coffees and loose-leaf teas. That’s good news for coffee, tea and foodie enthusiasts alike! Plus, patrons can also get hooked up to the free Wi-Fi, making Colombo Coffee the perfect venue for solo graft sessions or meet-ups with mates.

What you’ll get from Colombo Coffee is a great vibe, even better coffee and a few Instagramable snaps thanks to the clean, minimal decor and layout.
