Following a lengthy stint of planning a move to a new location, Dr Aaron & Associates Chiropractors moved to BluBird Medical Suites in Melrose on 3 October. Founder and chiropractor Dr Kevin Aaron tells us more.
How did your business start?
Following graduation in 2013, I began to work as an associate at a practice in Hyde Park for three months. I decided to open my own private practice in Parkmore, and I opened the second one in 2016 in Sea Point, Cape Town.
Why did you choose this area to set up shop?
I grew up in the area, so I know it well and its central location is ideal for our clients.
How did you find your premises?
We’d been planning a move for months, which unfortunately fell through at the last minute. I phoned broker Cheryl Riley and explained the urgency of our situation and she took me to the BluBird Shopping Centre to view office space, and this is when I bumped into an old friend, Cara Pimstein, and my former school head boy, Daniel Israel, who currently operate at the BluBird Medical Suites. They had an available room, so we wasted no time moving in and attended to our first patient later that afternoon.
Why are the premises ideally suited to your business?
We wanted a space where we could plug into a dynamic environment – there is incredible synergy among other practitioners.
Who are your neighbours?
Health care professionals including doctors, physiotherapists, dentists, a podiatrist, psychologists, dieticians and a reflexologist.
What are the shop rental/sales prices like in this area?
Affordable for the space, rentals in the area are in the R200/m2 range.
How many people visit your practice each day?
Ten people.
Do you operate online as well?
Yes, patients can make bookings online via our website and we’re on Facebook.
Do you have any expansion plans?
Yes, but for now we’re focused on nurturing existing practices.
What’s your most popular service?
Treatment for back pain, neck pain and headaches.
