Darrol Price and Danae Savvas had both been in the restaurant industry for many years when they decided that the next shop they open would be the type of place that they themselves would want to go to. So they created Culture Club – Bar de Tapas, a beautiful spot with a relaxed yet vibey atmosphere where one can embrace the charming style of Eat. Share. Live. It’s more than their motto and rather a rule to live by.

Choosing the style: Tapas

They decided on tapas as the style of food for their establishment as it means more than the simple act of eating, but rather an informal, fun and social way to enjoy good food and company. You also get to tailor your meal by ordering a variety of tapas dishes that suit your likes and tastes and everyone gets to share the selection.

The majority of the restaurant’s seating is outside on an open deck, with a large, old tree growing from the middle of the terrace, decked out in fairy lights.

Culture Club Pretoria

The food combines mixed influences from the Mediterranean, Middle East and Asia fused with some great local flavours too. The menu offers an interesting selection of dips, spreads, nibbles, sides, vegetables, mixed plates and sweet tapas. Highlights on the menu include toasted pita served with cream cheese, basil and sundried tomato pesto spread, herbed citrus mixed olives, crumbed haloumi bites, falafel balls with lemon coriander yogurt, pan-fried garlic and chilli button mushrooms, roasted honey butternut wedges, herb-crusted fish goujons and Thai grilled squid. And don’t end the night without having some decadent churros dipped in chocolate ganache.

Drinks menu

The drinks also add to the chilled atmosphere with refreshing coolers such as a pomegranate spritz, cherry and cranberry cooler, fresh, home-made gourmet ice teas and non-alcoholic cocktails like the watermelon and cranberry mojito.
