Your kids are keen to go hunting for chocolate eggs, but what’s in it for you? Here are a few of Cape Town’s finest Easter egg hunts in beautiful natural areas, where there is plenty to keep adults entertained while the kids get down to business.
Table Mountain Cableway
It’s no secret that the Easter bunny hangs out on the top of Table Mountain on Easter Sunday with an Easter fairy. They have left a series of clues for children to follow on an Easter egg treasure hunt in one of the most beautiful settings you could ask for. The hunt runs every hour from 10am till 2pm and is included in the price of the Cableway ticket.
Intaka Island
A map and four real nests to find on Intaka Island make a perfect hunt for nature lovers, with chocolate eggs to collect once you’ve discovered all four. Art on the Island offers Easter egg painting and a puppet show. There’s also a Natural Goods market happening too, so make a day of it with the whole family on Easter Sunday. The hunt runs from noon until 3pm and has a limited number of spaces available, so book a space or get there early.
Spier Werf Market
The spacious grounds at Spier and the newly restored historic werf are the ideal setting for an active hunt, with lots of mini activities along the trail to fill a basket with eggs. Adults can relax at the market under ancient oaks with great food and craft cocktails as well as foodie workshops, while the kids use up any remaining energy on the chicken jumping castle. Book places for the hunt on Saturday and Sunday at 11am via Quicket.
The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa
If an elegant buffet lunch in gorgeous surroundings is more your style, book the gourmet Easter lunch in Azure Restaurant where kids are welcome. The kids can then go off for an exciting Easter egg hunt around the fynbos-filled grounds while parents relax over coffee, listen to live music and enjoy the views of the Atlantic Ocean.
