Is there anything more quintessentially Durban than a Saturday morning at the Essenwood Market? I don’t think so…

Open every Saturday from 9am to 2pm at Essenwood Park in Stephen Dlamini Road on the Berea, Essenwood Market was cool before markets became a thing. And while it used to be largely craft, with some food on the side, it has since developed into a fabulous array of goodies that will suit all ages.

Recently relaunched as Plan B Essenwood Market (https://www.facebook.com/PlanBEssenwood/) – an amusing name if ever there was one! – the new owners are excited to turn the market back into Durban’s favourite weekend stop, and have even asked their local ward councilor to gather feedback from the local community in Musgrave as to what kinds of stalls they most want to see.

Foodies will enjoy the food stalls offering everything from fresh pancakes to bunny chow, raw honey, cupcakes and fudge, pork pies and cheese (and so much more!) Pop by for breakfast on your way to the beach, or pick up all the essentials for a picnic lunch in the park.

There’s plenty to keep kids entertained and the location is so central and convenient that it’s sure to become a stop en route to whatever other Saturday plans you might have!
