Nardia Adams’s bespoke Fudart upmarket catering and food consulting company – complete with a funky orange food truck – is fast becoming an institution in not just Durban, but also areas to the north and south of the city, as well as the Midlands.
Her unique catering service offers a whole array of services to a very diverse group of clientele and she says that it ranges from formal to extremely casual affairs. “It also helps that I have a team of chefs that can cater in very upmarket settings and I have the trendy food truck for the more adventurous set-up.”
She enthuses that her functions have so far included intimate family gatherings, stylish corporate events, wellness days in the park and loads of fun events such as bachelorettes, birthdays and baby showers – not to mention a steady stream of orders for packed lunches delivered to offices, film sites, Government activations and kids’ parties.
“I also cater at many conferences at the Durban ICC, such as Indaba and the International Aids Conference, and you’ll find the food truck serving various street foods at all the music concerts at the ICC, Botanic Gardens and Moses Mabhida stadium,” she adds.
A quick look at Fudart’s mouth-watering menus on their equally appetising website is enough to make you want to start organising a party, and according to Nardia, their most popular menu is the canape selection. It comprises a tantalising line-up of bite- size portions of contemporary meals that allows you to dine while networking, mingling or having a party. “For the Food Truck functions, street food seems to be the most popular,” says Nardia.
These sample menus are a great starting point for clients to plan their parties, but Nardia usually compiles tailor-made menus to suit each client’s budget, theme and style. At Fudart, it really is all about the personal touch and Nardia and her team believes that every function is a “special occasion and moment in time – and food is a huge part of that”.
