Looking for a little taste of Mexico right here in Durban? Look no further… Four15 prides itself on being South Africa’s first Burrito Bar – a passionately South African spot offering fresh, wholesome Mexican food.
Located in Mackeurtan Avenue in Durban North but with the heart and soul of the loud, vibey Mission District in San Francisco, Four15 is a burrito joint with a difference. It’s not just the commitment to fresh ingredients and homemade tortillas, or the unlimited salsa bar and South African additions to the menu (boerie and chakalaka are probably not seen that often in Mexico!) It’s the spirit of the place – the team at Four15 are really happy to be serving you, and committed to making your meal more than just food: they want you to feel like you’re part of the community.
As such, they have a host of fun specials, including Taco Twosdays, where you get tacos, sides and drinks for two for R125 every Tuesday, and salsa dancing classes if you feel like getting your feet moving. The menu has all the expected delicious Tex Mex – from tortilla chips with guacamole and salsa to chile releno (three cheese stuffed chillies deep friend and served with a chilli-lime aioli) and of course burritos, tacos and chimichangas, fajitas and quesadillas, and enchiladas. There’s a kids menu to keep the little ones happy (with a promise that ice cream and chocolate sauce will follow for those who have eaten well!) and the desserts are simply heavenly: if you can resist the churros with warm chocolate ganache, try the unique tequila lime cheesecake or one of their unforgettable milkshakes.
If you’re looking for authentic tastes of Mama Mexico, this isn’t your place. But if you’re in the mood for a fun, lively meal out with friends and family and plenty of fresh, delicious food, pop over to Four15 – you won’t be disappointed.
