Laerskool Garsfontein:

This Afrikaans-medium school has been proudly serving the community for decades and guides learners from Grade R to Grade 7 towards academic excellence, sporting greatness and cultural achievements. Right from the start, in Grade R, every effort is made to prepare each and every child for Grade 1, while their potential is nurtured and stimulated.

Sport is an important facet at the school and it is of paramount importance that it should be something that learners enjoy – and that they can each choose to fulfill their potential in a sport of their choice. The school offers great development programmes for junior learners in order to cultivate a love for sport from a young age.

In terms of cultural activities, various options are on offer, including a junior choir, a senior choir, junior and senior revue groups, an art competition, an Oscar evening (where credit is given to all participants in cultural pursuits), public speaking and oratory groups, a children’s culture festival, drum majorettes, a school band (G-sharp) and the school’s very own digital newspaper – Garsiegerf – which is published monthly.

Hoërskool Garsfontein:

Celebrating 30 years of educational excellence this year, Hoërskool Garsfontein is one of Pretoria’s most prestigious high schools and every “Garsie” is proud to be a part of the school’s impressive legacy of academic, sporting and cultural achievements. Offering boarding facilities to learners from further afield, Hoërskool Garsfontein not only serves this vibrant community, but also children who are willing to board to be a part of this school’s impressive tradition. Based on healthy values, sound decision-making and a values-driven approach, it’s a recipe for success, ensuring that every learner receives the best possible education. All of this is encapsulated in the school’s ethos, which is a positive call for all learners to truly “live from the heart”. The wide variety of extra-mural activities  – from swimming to netball, cricket, athletics, rugby, hockey, horse riding and tennis, to name but a few – adds to the appeal and gives Garsies the opportunity to truly develop their various skills and talents.
