Leading property auction house, High Street Auctions has moved to Knightsbridge, a new green office in Bryanston. We chat to Joff van Reenen lead auctioneer and director.
How did your business start?
High Street Auctions was established in 2010 when a group of industry experts with decades of experience in property investment and development, finance and auctions joined forces to launch a premier property auction house focused on bespoke client service. The collective experience of the company’s dynamic leadership has in the intervening years, created a formidable business specialising in commercial, industrial, retail and residential properties.
Why did you choose this area to set up office?
The superlative position and sustainability factor prompted the move to the 4-Star Green Star SA-rated Knightsbridge redevelopment in Bryanston.
How did you find your premises?
Through the keen eye and networking skills of one of our directors, we identified and secured premises that perfectly match our company ethos.
Why are the premises ideally suited to your business?
Numerous studies have shown that green buildings have a major influence on the health and well-being of occupants, and so taking care of our people in this manner means we can deliver even greater value, expertise and service levels to our clients.

What are the office rental/sales prices like in this area?
Rentals are commensurate with 4-Star Green Star prime office space in Johannesburg’s northern suburbs.
How many people visit your office each day?
It varies daily and peaking in the week prior to our monthly multi-property auctions held at a venue.
Do you operate online as well?
Currently, we are the only auction house in South Africa to live stream all our sales. We have an interactive website and we’re on social media pages including Facebook (@HighStAuctionCo), LinkedIn (bit.ly/2zxBmQo), Twitter (@High_St_Auction) and YouTube.
Do you have any expansion plans?
In eight short years, we have established ourselves as South Africa’s premier property auction house and we remain extremely bullish about future growth prospects.
