Jam and Daisies is an arty, country-inspired garden cafe tucked away in the suburb of Nieuw Muckleneuk. The cafe has a relaxed and inviting atmosphere as it is located in a beautiful, spacious house with a big stoep and a luscious garden.

Jam and Daisies has an environmentally friendly approach, using only free-range eggs and chickens. Even though it serves simple cuisine, the menu still has a few surprises with some unconventional and original dishes like peach, mascarpone and almond French toast, butternut, feta and peppadew pancakes, fruity, carrot pineapple and walnut cake, and gourmet burgers on home-made sweet-corn loaf, to name a few.
I had the free-range roast chicken salad served with avo, flaked almonds, Parmesan shavings, salad greens, rosa tomatoes and a tangy dressing. I was really impressed, as they didn’t fill most of my plate with greens, but rather with a sturdy amount of chicken. The combination of flavours was really interesting with the strong flavour of the Parmesan, the crispiness of the toasted almonds and the creaminess of the dressing. The cafe also serves a variety of wines and bubbly as well as a lovely range of fruity and indulgent crushes and milkshakes.
If you are looking for an unpretentious eating spot with warmth, personality, authenticity and attention to detail, and if you want to leave refreshed after a delicious meal and invite all your senses to this culinary journey, this is the place to be.
