The Joburg Ballet is known for its breathtaking performances, and audiences are in for a rare delight on Saturday, 19 May, when the company will partner with some of South Africa’s top singers for just two shows at the Teatro Theatre at Montecasino.

With a number of talented local artists coming together on one stage, Joburg Ballet & Friends – A Dazzling Gala at The Teatro, sees the Joburg Ballet joining South African singing stars Angela Kilian, Sibongile Mngoma, Timothy Moloi and Samantha Peo as they present some of their favourite popular songs and arias. Last year, the same singers shared the stage with the company in a successful gala concert. This year’s performance is set to be even more stunning.

“We’re delighted to have been invited to perform at Montecasino and to introduce new audiences to one of the city’s most successful performing arts companies alongside some of the country’s most talented voices,” said Joburg Ballet CEO Esther Nasser, a sentiment echoed by the Teatro management and shared by the ballet company and the singers.

Over the two performances taking place on the Saturday, at 3pm and 8pm, audiences can expect to be treated to ballet classics such as Don Quixote, Swan Lake and Flames of Paris alongside newer jazzy pieces, all of which will showcase the versatility, range and talent of the Joburg Ballet dancers.

For newcomers to ballet, or those who might not have ever experienced it before, the show is the perfect introduction. With the powerful emotive voices of the guest singers, Joburg Ballet & Friends is set to be packed full of invigorating entertainment.
