Claremont’s range of restaurants are as diverse as any foodie could wish for, from steaks to seafood, Italian and Japanese. Here’s a round-up of our favourite restaurants in the ‘hood.
Hong Seafood Restaurant & Bar
Chef Hong serves authentic Japanese sushi. The real deal. The proper stuff. There’s an extensive menu for those who understand sushi, as well as some superb signature sushi platters, and even vegetarian sushi for those who don’t eat fish. Of course, it’s not all sushi – as the name says, seafood is the focus, but we recommend stocking up on the good stuff.
Brad’s Grill
Steak, steak and more steak is what you’ll find at this local favourite – as well as sauces and sides, of course. And other meat offerings: lamb shank, oxtail, venison… You name it! Don’t forget the onion rings, which are a must with any meal. Service is reliably good, and it’s the kind of place you’ll see the same people at time and again.
A Tavola
Authentic Italian. Need we say more? The best fresh pastas, the most delicious antipasti, and the finest Italian main meals you could wish for. All made with wonderfully fresh ingredients, superb sauces, and imported Italian ingredients where necessary. The location might be uninspiring, but the food certainly isn’t.
The Eatery Wood Fired Grill
A family-friendly steakhouse with something for everyone, The Eatery serves the kind of satisfying, unpretentious food that makes for a great evening out. Of course, with their wood fired grill, meat is a speciality – and their steaks are superb, along with delicious sauces and chips. But there are plenty of other options on offer as well – and a nice wine selection and craft beer on tap too.
Starlings Café
The delightful setting of this neighbourhood favourite café is only part of the joy of an outing to Starlings – the freshly baked treats, superb coffees and reliably delicious food make it just as much of a treat. Their secret? Farm fresh ingredients, free range and wholesome, combined with friendly service and simply charming décor.
