Splash Park 

97 Beach Road

There’s just so much to do here! From 10 riveting waterslides to an adventure river with tubes, to various pools and a wonderful braai area. Other perks include an exclusive deck area for hire, a lovely family restaurant (the Thirsty Whale), change-room facilities and plenty of parking.

Warner Beach (“Baggies”)

This surfing hotspot features fantastic stretches of sandy white beach and this is where the Baggies Surf Pro™ is held – when international icons take to these warm Indian Ocean waters, much to the delight of the locals. It’s a great beach for swimming too and there are lifeguards on duty all through summer. The tidal pool is ideal for snorkeling.

Pipeline Beach

This legendary swimming and surfing spot is on the edge of the Pipeline Coastal Park and visitors have access to various picnic and braai facilities. There’s a restaurant and fresh-water swimming pool to boot, making it the perfect choice for a family day out.

Reunion Park Beach

With its kiddies’ swimming pool, exciting trampolines, braai spots and changing rooms, this beach has everything and more! It’s even easily accessible from the N2 and there’s a boardwalk snaking through the mangroves of the reserve protecting the forest and Isipingo River-estuary.

Umbogavango Nature Reserve

This wonder-world of natural bounty includes a brilliant overhead canopy, various water holes, a rich birdlife and the arum lilies that pop up in spring are an absolute joy to behold. Look out for bird species like the Natal spur fowl and the Cape teal. Phone ahead and make an appointment and get a permit to visit the reserve: (031) 949 2081.

 

Ilanda Wilds Nature Reserve

The riverine and coastal forest her boast some 120 tree and shrub species (such as the Fluted Milkwood and the Natal Elm Tree) and this lovely little 14ha-reserve also features three picturesque self-guided trails. Bird-lovers will not be disappointed and there are picnic and braai spots too.
