Capetonians are certainly spoilt for choice when it comes to shopping and the strip along the Atlantic Seaboard truly boasts some of the best retail offerings in the province.

V&A Waterfront

For starters, the world-famous V&A Waterfront’s vast selection – exceeding 450 stores with everything from fashion to home ware, curios, bespoke beauty products and various delectable restaurants (no less than 80 top-notch eateries are found here) – includes top international brands as well as the cream of the local crop. Apart from the superb retail and culinary outlets, this vibrant enclave also has a dedicated events calendar throughout the year, so be sure to check their website regularly for updates on new attractions. One of the latest draw cards here that has drawn a lot of attention was the opening of the much-anticipated Zeitz MOCAA museum in the Waterfront’s Silo District. This contemporary art museum is said to become the largest museum of contemporary African art in the world.

Adelphi Centre

In Sea Point’s Main Road, the popular Adelphi Centre is literally part and parcel of the community and this steadfast mall has seen many revamps since it opened its doors way back in 1974. This former cinema is now a fully fledged shopping mall, with an excellent Pick n Pay as the anchor on the lower level and an extensive Clicks on the first floor, and regulars love the fact that there are many small boutiques, cafés and specialty stores here – not to mention plenty of parking and excellent security.
