This quirky American diner-style truck serves up real street-food classics such as corn-dogs and pulled pork and if there’s one thing they pride themselves on, it’s their substantial portions. Found at most markets in and around Durbs, they’re also available for catering at parties.
Burgers, bunnies and boeries – this zippy mobile catering company has these popular fast-food favourites down pat! Mervin Govender’s passion for cooking not only included competing in Master Chef Season 3, but also travelling to the US to get some firsthand knowledge of the industry. So you’re in for a flavour-filled authentic foodtruck experience!
Crocodile gatsby, anyone? Made from deboned crocodile ribs, this is certainly not everyone’s cup of tea, but rest assured that the fun, experimental African cuisine from EasyEating is all about a modern twist that also offers more mainstream delights like sweet vetkoek stuffed with roasted sweet peppers, aubergine and cheese.
The mobile division of this popular coffee shop serves delicious hot brews to areas like Durban North, La Lucia and Umhlanga. Find the van at Mayfair on the Lake, Armstrong Avenue in La Lucia, Umdloti Beach, or at events around Durban. Flame-grilled chicken and laid-back vibes is the name of the game and at Naked Bones, they pride themselves on simple, delicious hormone-free and free-range fare. Seen at major festivals and also available for functions, this truck serves up utterly delicious strips, rotis, wraps, slaws and of course wings, quarter chickens, half chickens and the full monty.
What’s not to like? Curly fries and succulent flame-grilled buffalo wings served in one of four flavours – mellow mango, citrus blazer, bone sucking BBQ (“not your average BBQ sauce, boet”) and bent-over-buffalo.
Oh, and did we mention the caveat with the latter? “Proceed with caution, this traditional hot pepper sauce might have you crying on your mom’s patio.” This hip and happening truck is just the ticket for hungry mouths at markets and festivals!
