We end this Women’s Month with another tale of inspiring ladies trying to make the world a better place. Women4Women is an NGO founded by former Miss South Africa Cindy Nell-Roberts focussing on women empowerment and community upliftment. The foundation has changed and continues to change the lives of girls around the country, through life skills workshops, preparing young girls for the different stages of life, and bursaries which make it possible for these young women to reach their dreams of a brighter future through education.
One of W4W’s main partners is the Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa Pageant, which was created for married women who would ordinarily not have such a platform to compete and be ambassadors for South Africa, on a global scale. Together with the Mrs South Africa company, the foundation aims to raise R1m this year which will go towards bursaries for local young women.
Sandra Harmse from Centurion is one of the top 25 finalists who was chosen to serve her community and women in South Africa by raising funds for the W4W foundation.
As part of Sandra’s campaign in becoming the next Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa, she’s hosting a Race2Raise event on 31 August at the Serengeti Estate in Kempton. This family day will feature live entertainment, food stalls, an inflatable obstacle course of 3km or 5km, children’s entertainment, and rugby. All proceeds will go to W4W.
“I’m thankful to be part of this incredible journey for both personal growth and the opportunity to be part of this process as part of my foundation and life experience to create change and opportunities in other women’s lives. My mission is to make an impact on young girls’ and women’s lives, to guide and coach them to a world of opportunities for their future,” she says.
